The Art of Sherlock Holmes-USA Edition 1 is truly unique. In this first USA edition, thirteen world-class artists who live and create in the United States have each had a story assigned to them – specifically dependent on the particular talent of each artist. Whether the interpretations be from the forms of surrealist, contemporary, realist, digital, minimalist, symbolism, or an amalgam of various forms, each piece of art created is unique, hypnotic, mesmerizing and unforgettable. Each created specifically to express the essence of each incredible Holmes story.
The thirteen stories herein range from the impossibly baffling (except for Holmes) to the humorous, paranormal, or simply intellectually intricate. You’re presented with murder, theft, treason, betrayal, love, loss and greed. All the ingredients to make delicious Holmes meals of mystery. But please remember, art is in the eye of the beholder. So we hope you’ll appreciate each creation for what it is: an inimitable interpretation of a truly unique Holmes story.

I love the look and feel of this brilliant collection of short stories, combined with the gorgeous works of art. The artwork makes it so special – it’s at times like these I wish I’d have a coffee table, hell, a dining table covered with beautiful books like these. You can feel the love for Sherlock Holmes’ legacy, and the dedication of the authors and artists involved all throughout the book.
The detective in the stories always reminds us of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, I chuckled reading about Bram Stoker in the very first story of the book – love it when reality and fiction mix, like in the story where Holmes and Watson visit Arthur Conan Doyle. Of course, I was delighted to see The Woman appear – and to read about their strong, unique, connection. The Woman – if ever there was one to capture the great detective’s heart, it would be her.
There was even a Dutch connection in one of the stories even if it was of a dubious character… To me, the best short stories are those, which weave (well-known) facts from history into the plotlines or the ones that create a cunning alternative reality. The strength of the authors lies in the fact that even in those circumstances, they stay true to the original creation of the great detective – and they honour Dr Watson in the same way. One story features him and I was rather moved by the strength of his feelings for his (belate) wife, Mary.
The Art of Sherlock Holmes, this time the USA 1 edition, are wonderful, delightful, intriguing and thoroughly enjoyable collections of short stories, combined with gorgeous and beautifully crafted, unique works of art, all centred around that famous detective, residing at 221b Baker Street – the delicious fruit of the talented Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s imagination…
