Fascinating. Intriguing. Compelling. I loved loved ‘Backstories’, to figure out who it was we were allowed to see a bit of the background of people we have all come to know throughout the times. Imaginative and sometimes shocking, but oh such a great read!
These are people you know, but not as you know them. Peel back the mask and see.
CAN YOU FIND THE FAMOUS PERSON HIDDEN IN EVERY STORY?
Dreamers, singers, heroes and killers, they can dazzle with their beauty or their talent or their unmitigated evil, yet inside themselves, they are as frail and desperate as the rest of us. But can you see them? Can you unravel the truth?
Backstories is a book I looked forward to reading. I wanted to savour each story. To read one story a time … but I just could not stop and had to read them all in one session!
It’s fascinating and intriguing and even if you could guess the person, it still was a fabulous background story. With his imagination, the author has created a whole new world, a life behind the public life we have all come to know. The people simply came alive.
‘The Guitar’ … had to chuckle reading the ending. ‘Past Time’ made me cry a bit, because of the injustice and the life she lived and ‘The Big Attraction’ just made my blood run cold.
There are, of course, more stories and I wish I could reveal more but it’s not on, no way. You have to read the book for yourself. The stories are well-written and leave you hanging on, wanting for more, eager to discover who is portrayed here and what of that person we are about to learn… it’s fiction yes but it’s got this ‘could be true’ vibe I love.
I highly recommend Backstories – it’s filled with thoroughly enjoyable, sometimes upsetting but always intriguing, engrossing and captivating stories! Five golden stars from me. Oh and … I’m already eager to read the next book in this series!
